Marie-Madeleine CAILLA (CAILLE) (CAILLEAU) (CAYA)  was born 21 August 1725 in Terrebonne, Québec, Canada (Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne).  Marie-Madeleine died 17 April 1752 in Sainte-Rose, Laval, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Rose-de-Lima).  Marie-Madeleine was the child of Noël-Ignace-Flavien CAILLÉ and Madeleine-Anne CHARLES.

Jean-Baptiste  married  (2) Madeleine COLLERET dite BOURGIGNON 13 January 1755 in Montréal, Canada, New France .  The couple had (at least) 2 children.
Madeleine COLLERET dite BOURGIGNON  was born 13 September 1729 in Rivière-des-Prairies, Montréal, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rivière-des-Prairies)*.  Madeleine died 11 April 1757 in Montréal, Québec, Canada (Sault-au-Récollet) (Côte-St-Michel) (Côte-St-Paul).  Madeleine was the child of François COLLERET dit BOURGIGNON and Marie-Josephte DRAPEAU.

Jean-Baptiste  married  (3) Marie-Josephte BEAUCHAMP 8 November 1762 in Mascouche, Canada .  The couple had (at least) 9 children.
Marie-Josephte BEAUCHAMP  was born 22 January 1747 in Lachenaie, Québec, Canada (Saint-Charles-de-Lachenaie).  Marie-Josephte died 21 September 1814 in Saint-Jacques, Québec, Canada (Saint-Jacques-de-Montcalm) (Saint Jacques de l’Achigan).  Marie-Josephte was the child of Pierre BEAUCHAMP and Veronique SÉGUIN.

Jean-Baptiste ÉTHIER dit LECUYER died 12 October 1802 in Saint-Eustache, Lower Canada.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
