Biography
Two sisters, Michelle, born in c1621, and Jeanne, baptized at Ste.-Marguerite, La Rochelle, in November 1630, daughters of Martin Aucoin, menuisier or carpenter, and his first wife Barbe Minguet, came to Acadia with their husbands in the 1640s. They helped create two of the most prominent families in Acadia:

Michelle came to the colony with husband Michel Boudrot, whom she had married in c1641, and followed him to Port-Royal, where he became one of the most prominent residents of the Acadian capital. Michelle gave him 11 children, including seven sons who created families of their own. She became a widow in the late 1680s. She died at Port-Royal in December 1706, age 85 (though the priest who recorded her burial said that she was 95).

Meanwhile, Michelle's younger sister Jeanne married François Girouard dit Lavaranne of La Chaussée in c1647 and followed him to Port-Royal. She gave him five children, including two sons who created families of their own. (Personal note:...Read MORE...
