SHE WAS THE WIDOW OF CESAR LEGER, AND THE DAUGHTER OF DENIS BESNARD AND MARIE MICHELET. ORIGINALLY FROM PARIS, THE BESNARD FAMILY (FATHER, MOTHER AND THEIR FOUR CHILDREN) LIVED A FEW YEARS IN NEW FRANCE, VERY CERTAINLY BETWEEN 1647 AND 1652. THEY WERE THERE FOR MARGUERITE'S TWO MARRIAGES. MARGUERITE AND HER SISTER MARIE, MARRIED FIRST TO PIERRE LEMIEUX AND THEN TO ANTOINE GENTIL, SEEM TO BE THE ONLY ONES OF THIS FAMILY TO HAVE DESCENDANTS IN AMERICA."
