Biography
LEDUC - agglutination of 'the Duke', an ironic nickname given to the person who is reproached for giving himself a haughty and superior air, like the Grand Duke, the bird of prey.
Antoine Leduc was born around 1647, Louvetot, Rouen, Seine-Maritime in Normandy. Son of Jean and Jeanne Desobrie. He married Jeanne Faucher-Faucheux, daughter of Noël and Jacqueline Trion around 1671 in an undetermined place in Quebec. From this union were born 3 children. In the 1666 census, he was a servant in Trois-Rivières. In 1673, he settled in Grondines. In 1682, he undertook with 5 companions an expedition for the fur trade. During this trip they are attacked by Iroquois in Teiagon (Toronto), heading towards Michilimackinac. Since this attack, we find no trace of Antoine. His widow remarried in 1688.
