Sainte-Foy is a former city in central Quebec, Canada on the Saint Lawrence River. It was amalgamated into Quebec City on January 1, 2002.
Sainte-Foy is located in the southwestern suburbs of the Old Capital, between L'Ancienne-Lorette, to the north, and Cap-Rouge, to the south.

1667 - Parish of Notre-Dame-de-Foy is established at Sainte-Foy
First established as a mission in 1638, Notre-Dame-de-Foy was to be canonically erected in 1698 by Monseigneur de Saint-Vallier. At that time, Sainte-Foy, for the most part, and Sillery belonged to the seigneury of Sillery.

1845 - A young Canadian, named Theopilus Hamel, at St. Foy, near Quebec, having exhibited great talents in the art of design, was sent to Rome for completion of his studies.
His parents being poor, his means soon fell short and an application was made to the Legislative Assembly in his behalf. But the body not having power to entertain the application, a subscription was once opened among the members, being headed by Gov Metcalf, who subscribed £20.
