"Francois most likely arrived in New France around the end of the 1650's. On 12 December 1662, notary Guillaume Audouart of Saint-Germain drew up the clauses of Francois's marriage contract with Jacqueline Freslon, born in 1638 from the union of Rene Freslon and Renee Armange, from the parish of Trinity, in the town of Angers, Anjou (Maine et Loire). The nuptial ceremony took place a few weeks later in the parish church of Quebec on 9 January 1663."

GRENIER - nickname given to the owner of a 'granary' for storing wheat. The pronunciation similarities between GARNIER and GRENIER have created confusion. Thus, the descendants of the 2 names pass from one to the other, from one generation to another. 1) Charles Garnier was born around 1636 in Tournebu, Caen, Bayeux in Normandy France. His parents: Sieur Guillaume Garnier and Françoise Deschallais. He married Louise Vézina (12 years old) on December 21, 1664 in Château-Richer. Eleven children are born: Five died in infancy. The others: Charlotte (1666-1736), Charles, (1668-1734), Joseph (1671-1703), Louise (1676-1762, Françoise (1688-1722), Angélique (1690-….) JACQUELINE FRESLON, WHO WAS NEARLY THE SAME AGE AS HER HUSBAND, WAS THE FIRST TO LEAVE FOR A BETTER WORLD. HER CORPSE WAS BURIED IN THE SMALL CEMETERY OF POINTE-AUX-TREMBLES ON 14 APRIL 1712. FRANCOIS WENT TO JOIN HER IN ETERNITY NEARLY 5 YEARS LATER, AND WAS IN HIS TURN BURIED ON 21 JANUARY 1717 IN THE SAME PLACE.'
