Marie-Geneviève COTE was born 3 November 1754 in Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada. Marie-Geneviève died 22 April 1832 in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada (Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, Saint-Hyacinthe-le-Confesseur). Marie-Geneviève was the child of Louis-Augustin COTE and Marie-Josephte PION dite LAFONTAINE.
From its inception in the early 1600s until 1760, it was called Canada, New France.

1763 to 1791 - Province of Québec
1791 to 1867 - Lower Canada
