Biography
MÉNARD - variant of Magnard, from the Germanic name 'Magenhard', which means 'robust-seasoned'.
Jean-Baptiste Ménard-Minard-Vive-l'Amour was born on July 13, 1732 in Portalier, Doubs, France. Son of Poncet Minard and Marie Dupuis, he married Marie-Josèphe Éthier, daughter of Étienne and Marie-Madeleine Roy-Desjardins, on May 1, 1758 in Repentigny. From this union were born 10 children. This soldier of the troops of Montcalm, regiment of the Sarre, company of Oms, arrived in the country in 1756. He settled first in Repentigny, then Sainte-Anne de Bellevue and finally in Pointe-Claire. He died on August 28, 1800 and was buried the next day in Vaudreuil.
