"Without parents, Dorothee was now free to take a husband. Pierre Richer dit La Fleche was the man of her choice. In the afternoon of 5 September, in the home of master cabinet maker Jean Lemelin, notary Duquet made known the terms of the marriage contract agreed upon by the parties. Pierre, inhabitant of riviere Saint-Charles, son of the late Jean Richer and of Marie Galar (sic), from the parish of Thourace, diocese of Angers, committed himself to marry Dorotee, daughter of the late Antoine Brassard and the late Francoise Esmery (sic). Since none of the parents were present, the young man and woman stipulated for themselves. Pierre was accompanied by the master tailor Julien Jamain and by his neighbor Jean Merienne. As for Dorothee, she had come with her brothers Guilluame and Louis, and her brother-in-law Jacques Hedouin, the Sieur de la Forge."
"...Exactly one month later, on 5 October 1671, Pierre and Dorothee became husband and wife in the presence of God and man. The union was blessed at Notre-Dame de Quebec by the curate Henry de Bernieres, in the presence of friends and relatives, including Guillaume and Louis Brassard, Jean Merienne and Francois Jacquet."
