He married  Madeleine-Louise ROBILLARD 30 March 1761 in Terrebonne, Canada .  The couple had (at least) 11 children. Madeleine-Louise ROBILLARD  was born 25 August 1738 in Lachenaie, Québec, Canada (Saint-Charles-de-Lachenaie).  She died 31 March 1779 in Repentigny, Québec, Canada (La Purification-de-Repentigny) (St-Paul-l'Hermite).  She was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste ROBILLARD and Marie-Anne BEAUCHAMP.

He married  (2) Marie-Madeleine OUELLET 24 January 1780 in Boucherville, Province of Québec, Canada .  Marie-Madeleine OUELLET  was born 14 November 1757 in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada.  She was the daughter of Louis OUELLET and Marie-Anne QUEMENEUR dite LAFLAMME.

Claude ÉTHIER died 9 September 1809 in La Prairie, Lower Canada .
