WARE - Arthur A. "Babe" Provost Jr., 55, of 88 North St. died Sunday in Mary Lane Hospital after a short illness.
He leaves his wife of 36 years, Jeanne M. (Ladouceur) Provost three sons, Alan M. Provost of Sofia, N.C., Ralph A. Provost of Thomasville, N.C., and Gary A. Provost of Huntsville, Ala. a daughter, Lynda M. Provost of Ware three brothers, Lawrence Provost in South Carolina, Leo Provost of Three Rivers and Rene Provost of Arlington, Va. two sisters, Lorraine Lavallee of Ware and Loretta Rourke of Palmer six grandchildren nephews and nieces. He was born in Ware, son of Arthur A. Provost Sr. and Rose (Chauvin) Provost, and lived here all his life.
He graduated from the former Springfield Trade High School, now Putnam High School.
Mr. Provost served in the Marine Corps Reserve for 12 years.
He was a maintenance technician for 10 years at Nometco Inc., then in Ware, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Provost was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions made to Hospice of Hampshire County, P.O. Box 1204, 7 Denniston Place, Northampton, 01061.
