While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Marion Hatch Feige, age 101 of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late William E. Feige, Sr., passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, peacefully in her home. Marion was born on the Hatch Dairy Farm, Danbury, daughter of Louis and Helen Dimon Hatch. Marion retired from Red L Foods, Monroe. She was a devoted lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church, Trumbull, where her involvement was extensive. Marion was active as a Girl Scout leader, member of the Trumbull Garden Club, volunteered at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bridgeport in their soup kitchen and longtime volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Banks. Marion was an active gardener, reader and painter. She received awards in various arts exhibits and painted many portraits for family and friends.
