"After the death of his wife, Antoine Emery could have cursed his fate and folded his arms. At the age of 44, he decided that he still had a long way to go and that he should begin again."

"He met Marie-Anne Favreau, born about 1672, daughter of Pierer and of Marie Benoit. Antoine and Pierre knew each other in the Carignan Regiment since they were members of the same company. Widower Coderre proposed marriage to Marie-Anne. She accepted on Saturday, 5 June 1688, in the presence of the notary Moreau at the home of her parents who were living on the ile Saint-Joseph de Boucherville... Alas! this religious act is not to be found in our parish registries..."
