Marie-Catherine  married  Jean-Baptiste JEAN dit LAFLEUR JÉROME 18 April 1757 in Pointe-du-Lac, Trois-Rivières, Canada, New France* .  Jean-Baptiste JEAN dit LAFLEUR JÉROME  was born 3 April 1736 in Québec, Québec, Canada (Quebec City).  Jean-Baptiste died 8 June 1787 in Louiseville, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup).  Jean-Baptiste was the child of Jean LAFLEUR and Marie-Louise CHAYER (CHAILLE).

Marie-Catherine  married  (2) Jean HUGUES 25 October 1790 in Louiseville, Province of Québec, Canada .  Jean HUGUES  was born abt. 1742 in France.  Jean died 1 March 1815 in Saint-Léon-le-Grand, Maskinongé, Québec, Canada (Saint-Leon-le-Grand). 

Marie-Catherine DUFAULT dite LAMARCHE died 20 April 1827 in Louiseville, Lower Canada .

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
