Mary PAINE died 12 February 1687 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Dominion of New England.

"According to a deposition made by William Collinge in 1666, Richard Searl sold a three acre lot just above the town ferry to Mary Paine, afterwards the wife of John Tripp, for a pint of wine, the sale taking place at the house of William Baulstone ..., where apparently Mary was a barmaid [West, RIHSC, 25:71]. John Tripp later ran the ferry from this site. "

New England Families, RI edition, page 41. Mary Paine, daughter of Anthony Paine, became the wife of John Tripp, Portsmouth, RI. She survived her husband, and married(second), April 4, 1683, Benjamin Engell, and died February 12, 1687.

RI Families: Mary Paine, daughter of Anthony Paine and Rose of Portsmouth.She was the sole executrix of his will. She may have married a second time, 4 April, 1682, Benjamin Engell.

160 Families: Mary Paine, died 12 Feb 1687. Married (1) John Tripp and had 10 children, (2) 4 April 1682 Benjamin Engell. About 1641, Mary Paine, before she was married, bought three acres of land from Richard Searle for a pint of wine. Presumably the land was in Portsmouth, RI.
Ancestral lines: Mary Paine died 12 Feb, 1687.
