'Ruth Brewster was born at the Jones River, Duxbury, Massachusetts, a short time after her mother and father moved from Plymouth, Massachusetts to Duxbury, incorporated in 1637. 'A woman or great worth, died comfortably and Christianly'. Following the death of John Pickett in 1667, she married Charles Hill, a native of Barley, in Derbyshire, England. A wealthy merchant and early settler of New London, Connecticut. '
