Marie-Josephte VAUTOUR  was born 15 March 1715 in Montréal, Québec, Canada (Sault-au-Récollet) (Côte-St-Michel) (Côte-St-Paul).  Marie-Josephte died 2 December 1770 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Marie-Josephte was the child of Antoine VATOUR (VAUTOUR) and Geneviève MENARD.

François  married  (2) Marie-Josephte LÉTOURNEAU 29 July 1771 in Chambly, Province of Québec, Canada .  Marie-Josephte LÉTOURNEAU  was born 23 April 1715 in Saint-Jean-de-l'Île-d'Orléans, Québec, Canada (Saint-Jean).  Marie-Josephte died 14 March 1772 in Chambly, Québec, Canada (Saint-Joseph-de-Chambly).  Marie-Josephte was the child of Bernard LÉTOURNEAU and Hélène PAQUET.

François  married  (3) Marie ALARIE 6 July 1772 in Chambly, Province of Québec, Canada .  Marie ALARIE  was born 12 May 1722 in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Québec, Canada.  Marie died 22 November 1802 in Longueuil, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-Longueuil).  Marie was the child of Jean-François ALARIE and Marie-Louise LEMAY.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
