Joseph-Antoine  married  (2) Louise GREGOIRE 8 February 1762 in L'Assomption, Canada .  Louise GREGOIRE  was born 2 April 1743 in Neuville, Portneuf, Québec, Canada (Saint-François-de-Sales).  Louise died 20 May 1762 in L'Assomption, Québec, Canada (St-Pierre-du-Portage).  Louise was the child of Basile GREGOIRE and Clemence PROULX.

Joseph-Antoine  married  (3) Francoise LOISELLE 10 October 1763 in L'Assomption, Province of Québec, Canada .  The couple had (at least) 1 child. Francoise LOISELLE  was born abt. 1735 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Francoise was the child of Jacques LOISEL (LOISELLE) and Anne PARADIS.

Joseph-Antoine  married  (4) Marie LEBLANC 22 August 1768 in L'Assomption, Province of Québec, Canada .  The couple had (at least) 2 children. Marie LEBLANC  was born 2 March 1742 in Grand Pré, Nova Scotia, Canada (Saint-Charles-des-Mines, Acadia).  Marie died 18 April 1824 in Saint-Jacques, Québec, Canada (Saint-Jacques-de-Montcalm) (Saint Jacques de l’Achigan).  Marie was the child of Francois LEBLANC and Isabelle Élisabeth DUGAS.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
