WOODSTOCK - Wilfred Lachapelle Sr., 88, of Pond View Road died Monday in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Mary R. (DiGregorio) Lachapelle; three sons, Nelson R. and Donald W. Lachapelle, both of Southbridge, and Wilfred J. Lachapelle Jr. of Woodstock; a
Brother: , Leo Lachapelle of West Woodstock; a
Sister: , Victoria Patenaude of Woodstock; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Edye E. Billman of Southbridge, died in 1990. He was born in Manchaug, son of Narcisse and Anna (Mathieu) Lachapelle, and lived here for the past 25 years. He previously lived 65 years in Southbridge.

Mr. Lachapelle worked for American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 45 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Southbridge, and the American Optical Quarter Century Club. He continued to cut his own
