RENAUD/ RENAULT/ RENAULD - from the Germanic name 'Raginwald' from 'ragin' which means 'counsel' and from the root '-waldi' which means 'to govern'.

Jean-Baptiste Renaud-Arnaud-Deslauriers was born around 1669 in Astaillac, Corrèze, France. Son of Jean Arnaud and Marie Forget, he married Marie-Anne Provost-Prévost, daughter of René and Marie-Anne Daudelin, on November 26, 1705 in Varennes. The couple have 6 children. His wife having died in 1716, he married, on May 29, 1718, in Contrecoeur, Marie-Anne Pineau, daughter of Michel Pineau-Laperle and Simone Beaudet. The couple have 9 children. Little is known about the life of this pioneer who first settled in Boucherville before settling in Varennes. He died on March 25, 1750 and was buried the next day in Varennes.
