"In the autumn of the year of the earthquake, before noon on Wednesday, 31 October 1663, we find him at Quebec at the home of notary Pierre Duquet. He had found a rare pearl, the eighteen year old Catherine Fievre, a Daughter of the King. Her deceased father, a Potevin from Saint-Andre de Niort, went by the first name of Fiacre and her mother was Jacquette Dusol...on the following 10 November, in the church of Notre-Dame de Quebec...Catherine and Charles were united for life in the bonds of holy matrimony..."

'When Charles Allaire departed this life about the age of 52, Catherine Fievre was left with the responsibility for several young children. Courageously she faced all difficulties for nearly twenty years. Thus her family developed an Allaire solidarity still alive on the island. Catherine Fievre died at the Hotel-Dieu at Quebec on 13 June 1709.'
