Levi STEVENS died abt. 1825 in Exeter, Maine, USA.

Levi married Polly Mann in 1806 in Bangor. They had at least five children. Levi is credited by Wikipedia (and by an 1882 book about Penobscot County) with building the first grist-mill and sawmill in East Exeter, in 1813. Polly died around 1814; in February 1815, Levi married Hannah Mann, who was probably Polly's sister. They had four more children before Levi's death sometime between 1822 and 1830. His place of burial is unknown.

Occupation

Recorded occupation: farmer and millwright

The farmer, cultivateur, or cultivator, was a person who cultivated and exploited the land in order to get a crop.

He may have been the proprietor of his own parcel(s) of land. He could, depending on the land size, have employed other agricultural workers. If he didn't own the land, he was called a tenant farmer.
