Biography
Born on August 30, 1797, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (later Mary Shelley) was an English novelist, best known for her iconic work, 'Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.'

Mary's parents were prominent figures in the intellectual and literary circles of the time. Her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, was a pioneering feminist writer and author of 'A Vindication of the Rights of Woman.' Unfortunately, Mary Wollstonecraft passed away just days after giving birth to Mary, leaving her father, William Godwin, to raise her.

Growing up in a literary and philosophical environment, Mary was exposed to radical ideas from an early age. Her father's circle of friends included notable thinkers such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth. Despite her unconventional upbringing, Mary faced challenges, including her strained relationship with her stepmother.

At the age of 16, Mary met the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, who was a devoted follower of her father's ideas. The two fell in love,
