Biography
PICARD - nickname given to someone who is from Picardy, a former province in northern France. They were nicknamed by this name when they arrived in Canada a long time ago. They were 18 siblings. We can also find the ''Picard-des-trois-maison''. In Picardy, there were 3 houses for Picardians and thus, there were two lines of the Picard family.

Jean-Baptiste Picard –Picart was baptized on October 18, 1639 in Crolles, Isère, France. Son of André Picard and Catherine Cottin-Picquant, he married Anne Gauthier, daughter of Charles Gauthier and Catherine Camus, on October 12, 1673 in Quebec. From this union a daughter is born. Arrived in the country in 1673, he settled in La Pérade. He was mainly involved in the fur trade in association with others. He died in the house of his son-in-law on January 4, 1727 and was buried in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade the next day.
