Cartier, Joseph (1755-1825). Un des premiers marchands de Belœil de 1773 à 1784. Maître de poste. Concessionnaire original d'une terre sur la seigneurie de Belœil reçue de la seigneuresse Marie-Catherine Fleury Deschambault en 1782. Puis, à Québec, à Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu et à Saint-Hyacinthe.
- Né à Québec.
- Fils de Jacques Cartier dit Langevin et de Marguerite Mongeon.
- Il a épousé Marie-Anne Cuvillier à Québec en 1778. (Contrat Jean-Antoine Panet).
- Père de Joseph-François (1779), Marie-Scholastique (1781), Marie-Anne (1782), Marie-Geneviève (1783), Marie-Thérèse (1785), Marie-Louise (1786), Jacques-Antoine (1788), Augustin (1790), Édouard (1792), Marguerite-Émilie (1794) et Eusèbe (1795).
- Décédé à Saint-Hyacinthe.
