Wilfred (Ted) L.  DONNELLY

Wilfred "Ted" L. Donnelly was well-known by many, many people. In fact, so many that Ted's funeral service was overflowing crowds that extended outside the doors and property of the Funeral Home, and later, the Church where the final service was performed (St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Little Italy, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada).
Ted had a wonderful sense of humour and comedy. Him and a few of his friends (mainly, Bruce Declare) made public "joke" bets over sporting events and for fundraising. In his hometown of Ottawa, one of the more memorable ones that made many local papers around Ontario was a pie-in-the-face bet over who would win the Stanley Cup one year... Ted lost, and got the pie-in-the-face, with photos of him and Bruce posted in the local newspapers, both laughing and smiling just as they always were.
Ted worked at a local pub in Little Italy called "The Prescott." One evening while closing with the owner and another employee, a masked, armed gunman entered the pub demanding all of the money from the cash registers as well as from the safe. Although no one was injured during the robbery, unfortunately the offender was never identified nor captured to face justice.
