François Lacroix was born around 1641 in Estouteville-Ecalles, in Normandy, France. Son of François Lacroix and Jeanne Huot, he married Anne Gasnier (16), daughter of Louis Gasnier and Marie Michel, on September 11, 1670 in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. From their union were born 11 children. He was in the country in 1666. He settled on the Côte de Beaupré. In 1681, he owns 1 gun, 7 cattle and 6 arpents of land in value. He died in Sainte-Anne-du-Petit-Cap on August 27, 1710. On his death, he owned land measuring 6 arpents x 1.5 leagues, a house 28 x 20 feet, a barn of 20 x 18 feet, and a stable of 15 x 12 feet.
