'Walter S. Merritt, 81, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of CNY.

Walter was born May 5, 1935 in Carbondale, PA to Stanley and Lillian (Brush) Merritt. He graduated from Carbondale High School in 1955. Walter married Linda Smith October 6, 1973 in Syracuse, NY.

Walter worked at General Motors in Syracuse until he retired in 1993. He was a member of UAW, Syracuse and loved work.

He is survived by his wife Linda, children Laurie Colin, Stacey Merritt, Timothy (Michael) Merritt, grandchildren James and Jessica Entwistle and Joshua Colin.

Calling Hours will be Monday June 6, 2016 from 5-7pm at Traub Funeral Home in Bridgeport. There will be no Funeral. Contribution may be made in his honor to Hospice of CNY.'
