He was born here, a son of Fred H. and Dorothy L. French Colbath, and attended Poland schools. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in South Portland.
Mr. Colbath served with the Army.

He was a restaurant manager and chef.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion Post of Freeport.
