He died at the age of 81.
Walter A. Baker, 80, of 118 High St., Westerly, passed away at the Watch Hill Care and Rehab Nov. 3, 2007.
Mr. Baker was born in Cranston, the son of the late Walter J. and Blanche (Duhaime) Baker.
He worked in textiles as a finisher for the Kenyon Piece and Dye Works until his retirement in the mid 1960s.
Mr. Baker was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he and his fellow soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He was also a member and past commander of the Downey- Weaver Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by one brother, Joseph Baker of Westerly.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, is in charge of arrangements.
