Nicolas s'est engagé pour l'Ouest du 5 avril 1721 au 23 avril 1726.

ILE MASTA: Située à 2 km au sud de l'île Sainte-Thérèse et faisant partie des îles de Varennes, l'île Masta, inhabitée, n'excède pas 400 m de longueur ni 200 m de largeur. Figurant dans le Répertoire géographique du Québec, (l969), ce nom sans doute très ancien est attesté sur une carte de Verchères publiée en l929 par le ministère de la Colonisation et des Pêcheries. Si la date de la première attestation est inconnue, il n'en va pas de même de son motif d'attribution puisqu'un dénommé Mathurin Masta (l643-l688), maître-maçon, a passé toute sa vie à Pointe-aux-Trembles, précisément vis-à-vis des îles de Varennes dans le nord-est de l'île de Montréal. Il importe de distinguer ce maìtre-maçon d'un Abénaquis de Saint-François-du-Lac, Pierre-Paul Osunkhirhine, alias Masta qui, converti au protestantisme dans la décennie de 1830, fit un prosélytisme auprès des Abénaquis. Cette île est aussi identifiée localement sous les noms Île Mastai et Île de la Marée. Rég. adm. Montérégie, MEC Lajemmerais, Mun, Varennes V, Coord. 45o39' 73o28'; Feuillet 3lH-11, Carte (3a).
