Marie-Françoise  HAREL

"On 23 December 1708, Francois sat with the notary Pottier in Three-Rivers to draw up a contract for his marriage to Marie-Francoise Harel the widow of Pierre Blanchet. Francois had been employed as a miller, living at the grist mill of Mr. Framboise. Both brought three children into the marriage. The five children of Marie Niquet were taken in by their grandfather Pierre Niquet of Saint Francois-du-Lac. This document has been preserved and is contained in "La Collection de Pieces Judiciares et Notaires 1638-1759" in the National Archives in Quebec. Francois retained possession of his farm at Baie Saint-Antoine on which he had a cedar barn covered with sod and hay. His fiancee also had a farm centrally located within Baie Saint-Antoine. A document drawn up by the notary Chambalon in Quebec on 30 October 1710 indicates that Francois owned a milling business in Quebec and at the time lived in Beauport. In addition, the document also remitted to Sebatien Trocat the farm of Marie-Francoise Harel which had been granted to her first husband Pierre Blanchet on 21 September 1706. Two years later, on 3 October 1712, again before notary Chambalon, Francois Pelloquin remitted his farm to Mr. Courval on the condition that he dismiss arrears in taxes and rents due. The reason for this action was that the farm was not being worked. At this time, Francois was in fact a miller living at the mill of Mr. Forillon at Points-aux-Lievres near the city of Quebec. Mr. Forillon was Louis Albert de Forillon, Lord of Kamouraska."
