Leonard H. "Joe" Snide, 78, of Rouses Point, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.. He was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Mooers Forks to Wilfred and Dorothy (Willette) Snide.. Leonard married Anita LaBare and together they raised nine children.. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mooers and the American Legion in Champlain. He greatly enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and was an avid fan.. Mr. Snide worked for several local businesses, R. Deso, 3J Fuels and Meseck Logging, all located in Champlain, and George LaValley Mail Truck Service in Mooers.. He is survived by his wife, Anita Snide, of Rouses Point; his son, Leonard Snide of Plattsburgh and his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sandra Snide of Mooers; his daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary (Peggy) and Rodney Ducharme of Rouses Point, Theresa and Ricky Mesec of Champlain, Sharleen Snide of Mooers, Shirley Snide of Rouses Point, Carol and Richard Gokey of Rouses Point and Helen and Jeffery Hart of Rouses Point; his brothers and sisters-in law, Philias and Lee Snide of Peru and Gilbert and Margaret Snide of Mooers, his sisters, Theresa Garrand of Sciota, Sister Mary Gilbert of Newburgh, N.Y., Jane Moore of Mooers Forks, Doris Brothers of West Chazy, Bernadette and Harvey Suprenant of Mooers, Cecile Brothers of Altona and Eugena Williams and her companion, Delorah Duquette of Mooers; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Robert Blanchard and special friends, Carl and Sally Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Morgan.. Leonard was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Snide; his father, Wilfred Snide; his son, Donald Snide; his brothers, Roland Snide and Amos Snide; his sisters, Janet Meseck and Mildred Snide; and his grandson, Casey Snide.. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at St. Mary's Church in Champlain.. Donations in memory of Leonard can be made to Hospice of the North Country and the Rouses Point Fire Department.. Arrangements are in the care of the Ross Funeral Home, 2586 Route 11, Mooers.
