Mabel A. Jamieson
Died July 15, 2005
TRAVERSE CITY - Mabel A. Jamieson, 90, of the Old Mission Peninsula, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Mrs. Jamieson was born April 26, 1915, in Indiana, the daughter to Harvey and Francis Jarrett. Mabel lived in the Traverse City area since childhood and in Florida from 1977 to 1994. She was a homemaker on the family farm on Old Mission Peninsula, and was also employed for 10 years at the Traverse City State Hospital.
In her spare time, Mabel enjoyed painting, gardening - which included raising beautiful Iris and practicing organic gardening - mushroom-picking, walking in the woods and playing cards. Mabel was a member of the Ogdensburg United Methodist Church, her children's PTA, and the Civil Defense.
Mabel is survived by her sons, Calvin (Verla) Jamieson and Elmer (Farrell) Jamieson, both of Traverse City; daughters, Judith A. (Ed) Eckart of Paola, Kansas, and Janice (David) Guest of Harrietta; sisters, Thyrza Gilmore, Francis Hill and Helen O'Niel, all from Florida; grandchildren, Kelli, Karla, Krista, Jamie, Lori, Jeanne, Janice, Thomas, Matthew, Michael, Todd, Toby, Jessica and Mark; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husbands, who were brothers, Harold Jamieson and Ivan Jamieson; her parents; a son, Jack Jamieson; brother, Elmer Jarrett; sisters, Mary Lawrence and Ruby Gilmore; and two grandsons, John Jamieson and Kim Jamieson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, at the Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church (formerly Ogdensburg United Methodist Church), with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Rev. Dave Minger will be officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church, the Grand Traverse Pavilions or the Traverse City Senior Center.
The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
