Lionel Romeo Rapanault Sr.

Lionel Romeo Rapanault, Sr., 95, passed peacefully into eternity on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at his home of sixty one years in West Haven, CT surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 27, 1912 in Southbridge, MA to Joseph and Elizabeth (Renaud) Rapanault, he was predeceased by his "Dutchess" and wife of 55 years, Rachel Gabrielle Pariseau Rapanault. He leaves four children, Lionel R., Jr. of Branford, CT, Suzanne (John) Rapanault Patry of West Haven, CT, Paul (Francind) Rapanault of North Branford, CT and Marc (Vicki) Rapanault of Wallingford, CT six grandchildren, Janet Patry of New York City, Beth (Edwin) Patry Amoro of West Haven, CT, Nicholas Eckert of Middletown, CT, Rebecca (Jonathan) Rapanault Reeve of Hamden, CT, William Rapanault of North Branford, CT and Elizabeth (Nicholas) Rapanault Leonard of Wallingford, CT. He was predeceased by a grandson John J. Patry, Jr. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy and Evan Amoro of West Haven, CT, Jonathan, William and Delana Leonard of Wallingford, CT and soon to be born, Liam Reeve of Hamden and two sisters, Sister Therese Rapanault of Holyoke, MA and Muriel (Normand) Garceau of Southbridge, MA. He was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Dumas Morrison and Rachel Blair.

Lionel was a graduate of Boston School of Pharmacy in 1935 and practiced at local Pharmacies in Southbridge and Worcester before becoming employed by the Upjohn Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan as a Pharmaceutical Representative for 39 years before retiring in 1977. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Captain in the 76th Division Medical Administrative Corps of the Third Army. He was a member and President of the Notre Dame High School Father's Club, a member of the Sacred Heart Academy Father's Club, the President of the Holy Name Society, as well as a member of the Church of Saint Louis for 57 years. He was a devoted son and brother, a loving husband, a caring father and a cherished Pa and Grampy whose legacy stands as a beacon of light to all who had the privilege to know and to love him.

Funeral from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, CT on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church, West Haven, CT at 11 AM. Entombment in the St. Lawrence Cemetery Mausoleum, West Haven, CT. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM.
