Carol A. Gardner, 48, of Suffield, passed away peacefully Monday, (January 16, 2012 at UCONN Health Center after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Born in Stafford Springs to Marjorie (Nichols) Crouss and the late Edward Crouss, she lived several years in Agawam, MA before becoming a Suffield resident. Carol worked as the senior paralegal for Hampden County Sheriff's Dept. and enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. She was quite the gourmet cook. She loved sewing, crafts, and antiques, and was a precision gardener growing everything from flowers to vegetables. A dynamic and loving woman, she will be missed by all who knew her. Besides her mother Marjorie, she is survived by her son Richard L. Gardner and his wife Ashley, of Kailua, HI; her daughter Amanda R. Delage and her husband Jeffrey, of Enfield; her granddaughter Olivia Delage; her loving companion for 16 years Herbert J. Nolan, of Suffield; her brother Mark Cole, of Agawam; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; her faithful dog, Peggy; and the barn friends that made her life a little extra special. Carol and family would like to thank the 6th floor of the UCONN Cancer Center for their gracious loving care.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 21 at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Carol requested daisies for any floral tributes and specified no brown-eyed susans, or memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
