1937 - Crude Counterfeit Quarters Passed

News
FREDERICTON, N B Aug. 7 - Counterfeiters have been leading the Royal Canadian Mounted police a merry race with faked quarters here. The galling point, from the police view, is that the coins are poorly manufactured-not a professional job. Two pieces of metal crudely pressed together constituted the 28 cent coins reported by a Queen
street merchant, who said they were stamped with fairly accurate reproductions of genuine currency, but varied noticeably in both size and weight from the real thing.
