1700 - Establishment of Baie-du-Febvre

"On 12 July 1700, Francois received a " title of privilege " from Lord Jacques Lefebvre to a farm located on the shore of Lake Saint-Pierre in the lordship of Sainte-Antoine de la Baie. The farm, three acres wide by forty and one-half acres deep, neighbored on the farm of Nicolas Vanasse, occupant of the lordship of Cresse (Nicolet). The document was witnessed by the notary Ameau in Three-Rivers. The farm was located on a site which became an object of litigation between the Lord of the Baie and the Lord of Nicolet. The litigation lasted 18 years (1684-1702). An agreement was reached on 27 October 1702 as recorded by the notary Jean-Baptiste Pottier. As a result, a new boundary separating the two manors or lordships was agreed upon. The Pelloquin farm was within the manor of Nicolet along with that of Foucalt and Sebastien Trocal dit Croquant. On 11 August 1706 the Lord of Nicolet, Jean-Baptiste Poulin of Courval, receded to Francois Pelloquin the initial 3 acre width farm plus an additional 3 acres of width and he became as a result a neighbor of Foucalt and Jean-Baptiste Lampron dit Desfosser. Today this farm corresponds to parcel number 585 of the survey of Nicolet-South. This concession was witnessed by the notary Etienne Veron de grand Mesnil."
