1869 - A Triple Wedding
![]()
In the north part of Saratoga county, Greenfield, N. Y., and in the last part of the old year, there was a trio of weddings in one house at the same time, on which occasion and old lady and her two daughters were led to the alter. The mother was a widow; the first daughter was a widow of two months, and her husband a widow of four months; the other was a miss of sweet seventeen, and the espoused of a man of about thirty years, who had recently obtained a divorce from a former wife. The dominie was considerably confused to know when he had finished the job, and it was understood that he was to be paid at wholesale price and receive the equivalent in chopping wood. The husband of the mother, after all was over, declared that he should run the homestead himself and the rest might shift for themselves, since which the deponent has had no further tidings.
