1936 - Fog Blankets New England, Due to Thaw - Woman Killed at R. R. Crossing; Mist Causes Accidents

BOSTON, March 10 (AP) - Fog blanketed New England today caused one death at a grade crossing, contributed to automobile accidents, halted airplane travel, and slowed shipping in harbors and in coastal lanes.
Fog in greater or less density, was general from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to points south of New York United States weather bureau officials said it was associated with melting snow. The fog resulted they said, from the contact of a layer of warm air overhead with cold air, chilled by melting snow, close to the ground.

At Belmont, Mass., Mrs. MARJORIE WRIGHT, 42, of Belmont apparently unable to see two approaching trains because of the fog, stepped from the path of one into another, and was killed.
