Hudson, Mich., January 15. - That all the "graft" in Grand Rapids is not confied to the water scandal was shown when the body of James Saulsbury arrived here from the Soliders' Home. The outside box appeared to be made of old packing boxes, and when the coffin was lifted from the box it required very careful handling to prevent its falling to pieces. The brother of the deceased thought it a shame and bought a better one. No doubt the state pays for good coffins, but those who furnish them evidently depend on the occupants making no kick.
"Verily where the hen scratcheth there be the bug also." One day this week a young man drove into town with two ladies in his cutter. At the corner near the Comstock house the driver wanted to go one way and the horse wanted to go the other. Consequently, an overturned cutter, the air filled with feminine screams and in less than one minute four doctors and one undertaker, had rushed to the scen of the accident. No damage.
Albert Saulsbury, of Peoria, Ill., who came here to attend the funeral of his brother, James, has returned home after arranging the affairs of the deceased.
