Robert H. Beeman, Sr.

Morrisville-Robert H. Beeman, 78, passed away peacefully at The Manor in Morrisville March 6, 2018. He was born November 4, 1939 in Morrisville, the son of Clarence Heman and Alice Lou Ayer Beeman. He married Ruby Hodgdon on June 30, 1962 at the 2nd Congregational Church in Hyde Park with Rev. John Nutting officiating. He served in the Army National Guard.

He was a 1957 graduate of Peoples Academy where he was a tremendous athlete playing soccer, basketball, baseball and was on the gymnastics team. He was a member of the high school varsity soccer team beginning when he was in the 7th grade. Following high school Bob attended and graduated from Champlain College.

Bob began working for the Burlington Free Press at age 8 and continued working through college managing the paperboys. He later worked for the Mountain Company as an accountant. Bob was the chief tax auditor for the State of Vermont for several years and later was an income tax preparer. He was an accomplished homebuilder and did brickwork as well. Bob had a mail route with the U.S. Postal Service for some time.

He enjoyed watching college basketball (usually with the sound turned off); and also liked to watch golf and tennis and particularly enjoyed following Venus and Serena Williams. You could often find Bob enjoying a hot dog, an RC Cola and some Oreos. Bob loved his dog, Sophie.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Ruby; children, Lori Jean Genest and husband, James of Jericho; Bob Beeman, Jr. and wife, Andrea of Morrisville; Michael Beeman and partner, Lisa of North Hyde Park and Samantha Fuller and husband, Dave of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Carter, Tucker, Jackson, Adam and Laura; his sisters, Pat Morton of Arizona and Pamela Droney of South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his grandparents, Howard and Lou Ayers and by his brothers, Richard and Ron Beeman.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Hyde Park. Interment will be at a later time in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Morrisville.
