1849 - Bloomfield
Essex Co. Bloomfield was chartered, Jane 29, 1762, by the name of Minehead, and contains 23,040 acres. The settlement of the township was commenced before the year 1800, but the progress of the settlement has been slow. The western and south parts are watered by Nulhegan River. The north-eastern parts are watered by two or three small streams, which fall into the Connecticut.

Boundaries. North-easterly by Lemington, south-easterly by Connecticut River, which separates it from Columbia, N. H., south-westerly by Brunswick, and north-westerly by Lewis.

Productions of the Soil. Wheat, 315 bushels ; Indian corn, 242 bushels : potatoes, 6,640 bushels : hay, 450 tons ; maple sugar, 7,060 pounds ; wool, 642 pounds.

Distances. Eighteen miles north from Guildhall, and eighty-six north-east from Montpelier.

1876 - Burglary at Bloomfield.
ISLAND POND, Vt., 28. - The dwelling house of B. A. Bowker in Bloomfield, Vt., was broken into one day last week, while he and his family were absent on a visit, and $25 worth of money and silver were taken therefrom. The thief is not known.

1904 - VERMONT FUGITIVES CAPTURED. Tragic Ending of Family Feud - Alleged Murder of South Bloomfield Road-House Keeper.
A posse of special offers and citizens from both sides of th eline dividing Vermont and New Hampshire captured Reuben and Edward Bronson, the brothers who were wanted for the alleged murder of Charles Lyons, keeper of a road-house at South Bloomfield, Vt., late Thursday night. The men were captured early yessterday as they were emerging from the woods about two miles from the town. ALthough they were armed with rifles, their ammunition had been used up in the fight with Lyons, which resulted, it is said, from a family feud, and they offered no resistance.

The trouble between the Bronson and Lyons families has been of long standing and is said to have been accentuated at the last by intoxication. A lumber company Thursday began the distribution of $50,000 in wages earned by the men of that section during the winter, and money was spent freely at the road-houses. 1911 - DYNAMITE SAVES FLAMING TOWN. Tons Explode Fire in Bloomfield, Vt., Buildings.
Bloomfield, Vt., Sept. 21 - An explosion of tons of dynamite in the midst of a roaring fire, which swept away the barns, storehouses and office buildings of the Connecticut Valley Lumber Company and the local postoffice and grocery store tonight, was all that saved the town from being wiped out by flames.

The fire broke out in one of the barns of the lumber company and swept to an adjoining barn, thence to the office building, storehouse and granery. Three hundred horses in the barns were taken out with difficulty, but fifty head of swine, 200 tons of hay and serveral carloads of grain were burned.

In the storehouse many tons of pork, flour and other provisions purchased for the support of the lumbermen the coming winter were destroyed.

1916 - DOCTORS DOWN DEER.
Johnson, Paige, and Pierce Secure Three Large Bucks in Bloomfield.

Dr. H. H. Johnson, of North Main St., Dr. S. W. Paige, of Bank st., and Dr. H. L. Pierce, of Swanton, returned home this afternoon from a few days' hunting trip to Bloomfield. They secured three bucks averaging 200 pounds each. The party made the trip by motor.
