In the 18th century, it was composed of Pierrefonds, L'Île-Bizard, Sainte-Geneviève, Roxboro and Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
In 1904, the Town of Sainte-Geneviève was split into two new villages: Sainte-Geneviève and Sainte-Geneviève de Pierrefonds.
In 1935 the two villages of Sainte-Geneviève and Sainte-Geneviève de Pierrefonds merged once again into a single village called Sainte-Geneviève. The name Pierrefonds disappeared, resurfacing on December 18, 1958, when the rest of the territory of the old parish became the City of Pierrefonds. wikipedia
The term Pierrefonds was proposed by the notary and deputy Joseph-Adolphe Chauret who had an imposing residence built in 1902 and who gave it the name of a town located near Compiègne, in France. The building was a replica of a castle in this town (in 1993, the castle of Pierrefonds was practically destroyed by fire). In 1935, Sainte-Geneviève and Sainte-Geneviève de Pierrefonds became a single municipality and it was on December 18, 1958 that the city of Pierrefonds was officially reborn. grandquebec.com
