1854 - New Lebanon Centre / New Lebanon / New Lebanon Springs
New Lebanon Centre, a post-village of Columbia co., New York.

New Lebanon, Shaker village of Columbia Co., New York, 2 miles S. from New Lebanon Springs. It contains 10 or 12 large dwellings, occupied by the society in common ; also various smaller dwellings and shops. The Shakers possess over 2000 acres of land in the vicinity of the village. They manufacture a number of small articles, which often exhibit much ingenuity and skill.

New Lebanon Springs, a beautiful post- village of Columbia county, New York, 25 miles S. E. from Albany. Here are mineral springs and several hotels, much frequented as a summer resort. The village contains a bank, and a large manufactory of thermometers.

1869 - At Albany, N. Y., on the 15th, in the Shaker habeas corpus case of Sarah Ann Barbour,
against the New Lebanon Shakers, for alleged illegal restricting of her child, the court rendered a decision awarding the child to the custody of its mother and deciding that the Shakers illegally held her and restrained her. The right of appeal to the next general term was granted to defendants.

1870 - The general term of the Supreme Court at Hudson, N. Y.,
has affirmed the decision of Judge Miller, in the noted habeas corpus case of Babour vs. Trustees of the New Lebanon Shakers, awarding the custody of a child held by the Shakers to its parents.

1879 - Caught Defrauding the Government
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 10. - Samuel J. Tilden and his brother, Henry A Tilden, proprietors of an extract and drug manufactory at New Lebanon, N. Y., are in trouble for defrauding the Government out of a large amount of internal revenue. Several days ago internal revenue officials at Chicago seized a number of packages containing bottles of "cromo-chlorlum," put up by the Tilden house, which had not been properly stamped. Since this seizure, the Internal Revenue Bureau has directed an examination of similar packages at St. Louis, New Orleans and other points, which has resulted in seizure, in all those cities where these goods have been examined. Mr. Tilden's nephew, a son of Henry A Tilden, came here a day or two ago, to get the Internal Revenue Bureau to stop further seizures and to compromise the matter, and suppress its further publicity. New Lebanon, a post-village in New Lebanon town. ship, Columbia co., N.Y., on the Harlem Extension Railroad, about 24 miles S.E. of Albany. It has several churches, and manufactures of thermometers, barometers, and medicinal extracts. The township contains a summer resort, named Lebanon Springs, and a large community of Shakers at Mount Lebanon, who make brooms and baskets and sell garden-seeds. Pop, of the township, 2459.

The town contains a summer-resort, named Lebanon Springs, and a community of Shakers at Mount Lebanon. Pop. of the town in 1900, 1556 ; of the village, about 400.
