New Lebanon, Shaker village of Columbia Co., New York, 2 miles S. from New Lebanon Springs. It contains 10 or 12 large dwellings, occupied by the society in common ; also various smaller dwellings and shops. The Shakers possess over 2000 acres of land in the vicinity of the village. They manufacture a number of small articles, which often exhibit much ingenuity and skill.

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 10. - Samuel J. Tilden and his brother, Henry A Tilden, proprietors of an extract and drug manufactory at New Lebanon, N. Y., are in trouble for defrauding the Government out of a large amount of internal revenue. Several days ago internal revenue officials at Chicago seized a number of packages containing bottles of "cromo-chlorlum," put up by the Tilden house, which had not been properly stamped. Since this seizure, the Internal Revenue Bureau has directed an examination of similar packages at St. Louis, New Orleans and other points, which has resulted in seizure, in all those cities where these goods have been examined. Mr. Tilden's nephew, a son of Henry A Tilden, came here a day or two ago, to get the Internal Revenue Bureau to stop further seizures and to compromise the matter, and suppress its further publicity.
