The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007, at Pine River Healthcare Center in St. Louis. Age 80 years. Harold was born July 24, 1926, in Saginaw to Mervyn and Flora (Tatroe) Boshaw. He married Irene Dow on December 6, 1946. She survives him. Harold was a life member of the American Legion in St. Charles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, watching sport and John Deere tractors.
