Did You Know? Over time, Quebec has gone through a series of name changes
From its inception in the early 1600s until 1760, it was called Canada, New France.
1760 to 1763, it was simply Canada
1763 to 1791 - Province of Quebec
1791 to 1867 - Lower Canada
1867 to present - Quebec, Canada.

Did You Know? Quebec - Did you know? In France of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the chief officials of state, the seigneurs, the higher ecclesiastics, even the officers of the army and the marine, were always drawn from the nobility. In the colony this was very far from being the case... Even among the seigneurs the great majority of these landed gentlemen came from the ranks of the people, and not one in ten was a member of the "noblesse".
