Marie CARPENTIER  was born 5 May 1776 in Louiseville, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup).  Marie died 25 December 1800 in Yamachiche, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Anne-d'Yamachiche).  Marie was the child of Augustin CARPENTIER and Catherine GELINAS.

Jean-Baptiste  married  (2) Marguerite PAILLE 8 November 1802 in St-Léon-le-Grand, Quebec, Canada .  The couple had (at least) 6 children.
Marguerite PAILLE  was born 29 September 1779 in Louiseville, Québec, Canada (Saint-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup).  Marguerite died 26 November 1819 in Yamachiche, Québec, Canada (Sainte-Anne-d'Yamachiche).  Marguerite was the child of Hippolite PAILLÉ and Marie-Anne LESIEUR.

Jean-Baptiste  married  (3) Marie-Josephe LEBEL 15 January 1821 in Yamachiche, Lower Canada .  Marie-Josephe LEBEL  was born abt. 1793 in Québec Province, Canada (Quebec).  Marie-Josephe was the child of Jacques LEBEL and Marie CHARTRE.

Did You Know? Québec Généalogie - What is a 'dit/dite' name?  When the first settlers came to Québec from France it was a custom to add a 'dit' nickname to the surname. The English translation of 'dit' is 'said'. The Colonists of Nouvelle France added 'dit' names as distinguishers. A settler might have wanted to differentiate their family from their siblings by taking a 'dit' name that described the locale to which they had relocated. The acquiring of a 'dit' name might also be the result of a casual adoption, whereby the person wanted to honor the family who had raised them. Another reason was also to distinguish themselves by taking as a 'dit' name the town or village in France from which they originated. This custom ended around 1900 when people began using only one name, either the 'dit' nickname or their original surname.
