Biography
Margaret Brashare was descended from French Huguenot Protestants but joined the Society of Freiends in 1658 when she was only sixteen years old. She married Thomas Jordan in 1660, and soon after her husband, Thomas, also converted to the faith.
Both Thomas and Margaret suffered much for their faith.
When Margaret died, the following was entered into the Minutes of the Chuckatuck Monthly Meeting.
1708, 10, 7. Margaret d; a memorial concerning her by her s, Ben; she was dt of Robert Brashare & was b 1642,7mo; 'convinced of
the Truth about the 16 yr of her ae; a sufferer with my father both by confinement & also the spoiling of their Goods'; 'about the 63 year of her ae shee was taken with an indisposition of boddy
wch continued near 3 yr'; mentioned my eldest brother's w & severall of my brothers; d at 6 of the clock att night in
remarkable quietness the 7th day of the 10 mo in the yr 1708 having lived about 66 yr & survived my father 9 yr lacking 18 hr.
