Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

LAROSE, Rene Peacefully in hospital on Sunday, July 10, 2005 aged 91 years. Beloved husband of the late Noella Caya and loving father of Edna Barnes (Chuck), Ray (Lodia) Larose, Suzanne Rigby (late Norbert), Jean-Paul (Yvonne) Larose and the late Andre (Joan), Real and Claude. Dear grandfather of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother of Lauria Stickley, Leo Paul, and the late Alfred, Roger, Gerard, and Henri. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service in the Chapel on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment Notre Dame Cemetery. For those wishing donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.
